Sustainability Victoria - Sustainability Fund

This three-year partnership between UnitingCare Harrison and Sustainability Victoria will support older people in independent living communities to respond safely to sustainability challenges.

The project is working with the following independent living communities to develop community action plans-:

• Chapel Court in Moorabbin
• Cornwall Flats in Prahran
• Crawford Court in South Melbourne
• Daniel Gunson Memorial Homes in Bruthen
• Gardiner Lodge in Glen Iris
• Kirkside in Ormond
• Wesley Court in Ivanhoe
• Wesley Grange in Sandringham
• Hazelmere Homes in Horsham
• Heatherlie Homes in Warrnambool
• Mundarlo Units in Wangaratta
• Sweetman Court in Rupanyup
• Tarrangower in Maldon
• Wangaratta Wesley Homes in Wangaratta.

These plans will cover the following areas:

• education/information about sustainability issues
• community gardens
• composting
• creating community links with a sustainability focus
• insulation
• mulch
• recycling
• re-using
• shading
• wastage
• water and water tanks
• sustainability information exchanges between participating retirement villages
